I dont think that gap is that huge. It’s got quite the head start on Unity. TehWutSep 29, So what could still make you choose CE3 instead of Unity, even if you are happy with the visuals of Unity Pro?!

So maybe the “need” to use CE4 and UDK4 will be reduced by then, because the visual quality of Unity 5 will be high enough to feel good. Constant connection will probably be disabled soon, and you also can omit it in the final build. And on that side i’m quite sure cryengine is a bit ahead of unity. And especially the crymod section has about k posts in all sub-forums and is yet highly active. The good thing about CE3 is that it is so moddable.
My first game is crgengine Unity. In a few words: And I think Unity is ahead in all those regards. It just looks damn awesome, without doing anything. But it lacks importants features for me to finish my game. It sounds like the free version of CE doesn’t allow this. I find the FPS market too competitive for my skills – budget. Cyrengine I look down Unity’s roadmap it seems apparant to me that they are going to get to triple a status, potentially by just version 4.

The PNG decoding alone is far too much for any decent use case.
For now I have omitted all that stuff and cryentine was a good decision. But as artist, I see a real danger in it. All these little things sum up pretty quickly! Asset creation seems too expensive, not to mention competition and lack of an “store” customers usually are not so easy to find in PC.

In UDK you would have to twist your brain to come even close to what Unity Pro is capable of, while UDK is deytsch of the same things as CE3 but most people have no chance in unleashing this power First, let me tell when you don’t need to bother about CE3, so you don’t waste time in this thread: Join the Unity Advisory Panel. But CE3 to my surprise supports Linux!
And I also doubt they even try. I’d rather trust CE3 to be honest The role of Unity is to help introduce people into the paradigm of game development. On the other hand, I have much faith in human’s ability to achieve seemingly impossible goals.
Which engine has a more intelligently laid out backend? Want to provide direct feedback to the Unity team? And I believe Xeutsch already has those right minds, and they are already working on it. Forget it with Unity! If the game is really a burner, I will just move the headquarter into a tax paradise, so I would just pay taxes to CryTek, so to speak. On the other hand, the learning curve is steeper.
